Thunder Valley will roar to life when the green flag drops on the Nationwide Series’ Drive to Stop Diabetes 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway. This will be the 4th stop on the circuit for the Nationwide Series drivers this season. Since winning the first race of the season at Daytona, Regan Smith has held the point lead by posting top 10 finishes in each of his 3 starts. Trevor Bayne is the only driver that has also posted top 10 finishes in each start this season and trails Smith by just 3 points. Elliot Sadler, Ty Dillon, and Chase Elliot are all within 14 points of the Championship lead. Needless to say the Championship race should be extremely interesting in the Nationwide Series once again this season just as it was a year ago.

2014 Food City 500 Practice 1 Recap...

Who says practice is boring? Just 3 minutes into the first practice session for the Food City 500, Danica Patrick lost control of her car coming off turn number 2 and slammed into the right side of #30 Parker Kligerman. Patrick’s team was able to unload their backup car and get back out on the track. Patrick finished the session way down the leader board with the 34th fastest lap of 45 drivers. Evidently, Patrick set the stage for a number of incidents highlighting the early hours of action at Bristol Motor Speedway. Several drivers would run into trouble during the first practice session including the overall favorite for the Food City 500 in Kyle Busch.

2014 Food City 500 Early Preview...

Unsurprisingly, Kyle Busch opened as the leading favorite for the Food City 500 this Sunday at Bristol. ‘Rowdy’ has posted 5 career wins and posted a 9.89 average finish which is the best among all active drivers. While nobody in their right mind would deny Kyle’s strength at Bristol, Joe Gibbs Racing has not been thoroughly impressive through the first few weeks of racing. While Denny Hamlin finished 2nd in the Daytona 500, neither Kyle nor Matt Kenseth has cracked the top 5 this season. Kenseth won the Irwin Tools Night Race last year at Bristol and was running 2nd in this race last year before getting caught up in a wreck. Kenseth had a breakout season in 2013 and run well nearly everywhere. Still, Kenseth has posted 11 Top 5’s in his 28 career races along with 3 trips to victory lane at Bristol.
