The Cup Series’ final stop of the west coast swing will take place on Sunday at Phoenix Raceway with the running of the Fan Shield 500 at NASCAR’s new home for championship weekend. Since the implementation of NASCAR’s playoffs, Homestead-Miami Speedway has been the venue that housed the final race of the season and crowned the champion for each touring series. However, Phoenix Raceway will replace Homestead in this year’s finale for the championship which means tomorrow’s Fan Shield 500 will garner a lot of attention from race teams as they try to find speed that could possibly yield a title when we return in November.
