2025 eero 250 Race Picks

The final race in the regular season for the Craftsman Truck Series will take place Friday night with the running of the eero 250 at Richmond Raceway. Technically, there is only one playoff spot that is available going into tomorrow’s finale. Jake Garcia currently holds an 11 point advantage over two-time series champion Ben Rhodes. However, there is also a scenario where two playoff spots could be up for grabs if Stewart Friesen does not request a medical waiver due to his injuries. If that happens, Garcia and Rhodes could be in advancing positions with Gio Ruggiero within striking distance going into Richmond. Needless to say, there will be plenty of storylines surrounding the playoff bubble in tomorrow’s eero 250.

Despite the playoff storylines, I believe the major storyline is not being talked about enough and that storyline involves the incredible season produced by Corey Heim. Last week, Heim picked up his 6th win of the season after dominating a Cup Series filled field at Watkins Glen. If not for some bad luck at a couple of races this season, Heim could easily have 8-9 victories and perhaps still has a chance to get to double digits. To put things into perspective, Heim is having one of the best seasons in Craftsman Truck Series history and still has the chance to break many of the all-time records

From a betting perspective, Heim’s dominance has left minimal room for upset winners this season. In fact, there have only been two real surprise winners all season with Tyler Ankrum’s victory at Rockingham and Stewart Friesen’s victory at Michigan. Outside of those two events, the top two betting favorites have won 10 of 15 races this season. The other 5 events were won by top 4 betting favorites at the time of closing odds. As a result, bettors must continue to take what odds makers allow in terms of value and avoid ROI insufficient betting cards. Going into Friday’s eero 250, this event will be another top-heavy event and we will have to be sharp with our H2H picks while being creative in futures formats.

Richmond – Trucks Quick Notes

• Grant Enfinger (2020), Chandler Smith (2022), and Ty Majeski (2024) are all former winners at Richmond.
• Ty Majeski has finished 3rd, 2nd, and 1st in 3 career starts at Richmond.
• Grant Enfinger (former winner) has never finished worse than 9th in 5 career starts at Richmond.
• Corey Heim’s best finish at Richmond is 5th in 3 career starts.
• Christopher Bell has a 8.0 average finishing position in 4 career starts at Watkins Glen.
• Matt Crafton has finished 7th or better in 4 of the last 6 starts at Richmond.
• Christian Eckes (part-time start Friday) finished 2nd in 2024 at Richmond.
• Based on comparable tracks like Martinsville, North Wilkesboro, and Rockingham which have already held races this season, Tyler Ankrum, Daniel Hemric, and Jake Garcia are drivers that have performed very well this season on the shorter layouts.
• There have been 4 cautions or less in 3 of the last 5 races at Richmond.
• The eventual race winner has started from the 2nd position in 4 of the last 7 races at Richmond.

Betting Targets

While Corey Heim has proved to be the deserving outright betting favorite every week, I think Friday’s eero 250 is the type of race where we can be moderately confident in fading the hottest driver in the series. Heim does not have a single short track victory to his credit this season and he seems to struggle a bit on the longer runs on the short tracks. For that reason, I feel more confident chasing value this week as opposed to laying the chalk based simply on probable outcomes. As a result, I believe Layne Riggs and Ty Majeski are the sharper options with more betting value. Though the Thorsport Racing trucks have struggled to a degree this season, Majeski’s performance metrics at Richmond are downright phenomenal and I have to believe this is the #98 team’s best chance at a victory based on the remaining schedule.

Chandler Smith and Christian Eckes are drivers that are certainly capable and have the skill set needed to win at a place like Richmond. Personally, I just don’t like the betting odds on either driver and I would need to see more confirmation in Friday’s practices before selecting either driver at sub 8-1 betting odds. For better value that still has winning upside, I believe Grant Enfinger and Daniel Hemric are underrated options. Both Enfinger and Hemric perform best on the shorter layouts and Enfinger has been solid at Richmond throughout his career. As a result, I believe both drivers are live dark horses and ideal betting targets in H2H formats.

If we look even deeper into the field, I am not nearly as confident in dark horses in the realm of futures formats. However, I do believe Kaden Honeycutt and Tyler Ankrum have legitimate Top 5 ceilings. I believe Honeycutt is being somewhat disrespected in terms of betting odds because of a tough few weeks of performances. However, Honeycutt is jumping into Stewart Friesen’s #52 truck this week and I believe that is a sizable step-up in performance. Therefore, I would not be surprised if Honeycutt turns things around in his first start with the #52 team on Friday. Lastly, I would make note that Jake Garcia and Tanner Gray are getting huge numbers beside their names and both drivers have much higher upside than current betting odds suggest. As a result, I have Garcia and Gray on my radar for consideration in fantasy and prop bet formats!
