The Craftsman Truck Series had the opportunity to rest last week while the Xfinity and Cup Series teams battled at Talladega Superspeedway. However, the Truck Series will return to competition this week at Texas Motor Speedway to kick off 3 straight days of racing in the Lone Star State across all of NASCAR’s top touring series. For the Truck Series specifically, teams and drivers will embark on a rather grueling stretch of 6 consecutive races over the next 6 weeks starting with Friday’s SpeedyCash.com 250. This particular 6-week stretch will complete the majority of the regular season’s slated schedule and will undoubtedly establish the heavy favorites, in the points standings, going into the playoffs later this year!

The entry list for Friday’s SpeedyCash.com 250 is relatively intriguing. Despite the absence of superstar names like Kyle Busch and Kyle Larson who frequently step-down to mix it up with the Truck Series regulars, this week’s entry list features names like Carson Hocevar (Cup), Brandon Jones (Xfinity), and Nick Sanchez (Xfinity) among the notable names that will be competing late Friday evening. All 3 of those drivers will be behind the wheel of relatively strong equipment and could provide bettors alternative betting options. Hocevar captured his first career victory at Texas in 2023 in Truck Series competition and is one of just three drivers competing Friday, which includes Matt Crafton (2) and Stewart Friesen, who have tasted victory at Texas in Truck Series competition.

Needless to say, the addition of more quality drivers in the field should give fans and bettors more things to consider for Friday’s 167 lap main event. To complicate matters slightly, the Truck Series will face another tight schedule on Friday with qualifying and practice sessions that will conclude less than 3 hours prior to the green flag of the SpeedyCash.com 250. As a result, bettors must consider the possibility that betting odds, especially H2H match-ups, may not be posted again following on-track sessions on Friday depending on varying sportsbooks. Therefore, we will try to continue the strategy of locking-in the majority of our betting picks prior to Friday’s green flag in hopes to get the weekend started with a profitable lineup!

Truck Series Notes – Texas

  • Matt Crafton (2), Stewart Friesen, and Carson Hocevar are former winners at Texas.
  • Corey Heim has won 3 of the last 5 races in Truck Series competition at 1.5 mile venues. *Heim won earlier this year at Las Vegas.
  • Grant Enfinger won at Homestead (2024) and finished runner-up at Las Vegas (2025) in the prior two starts at 1.5 mile venues in Truck Series competition.
  • Xfinity Series veteran Brandon Jones has just one career win (Pocono 2020) in 52 career Truck Series starts. Jones best finish in 3 starts this season is 12th (Homestead).
  • Nick Sanchez has the best average driver rating (123.6) at Texas over the last two starts. *Sanchez led 168 of 172 laps in 2023 but was wrecked on the final lap.
  • Carson Hocevar is making his first start in the Truck Series since participating full-time in 2023. Hocevar won 4 times during the 2023 season including twice at 1.5 mile venues.
  • Stewart Friesen has finished 6th or better in 3 of the last 4 races at 1.5 mile venues.
  • The eventual race winner has started from the 6th position or better in 11 straight races at Texas.
  • Rockingham winner Tyler Ankrum has 4 straight top 5 finishes and leads the Truck Series with 5 top 5 finishes on the season.
  • Jake Garcia has finished 7th or better in 4 straight races going into Texas.
  • There have been 7 cautions or more in 4 of the last 5 races at Texas.

Betting Targets

Without question, Corey Heim remains the top dog in the Truck Series and that should not change for the remainder of the season. Despite having just two wins this season, Heim has been in position for 4-5 wins and he is likely going to rattle off a lot of wins over the course of the season. More importantly, Heim has been super strong at the 1.5 mile venues and it helps that the TRICON Garage trucks have shown the best raw speed throughout the year at the bigger ovals. With that being said, Heim’s odds are starting to reach “Kyle Busch” territory in the Truck Series meaning I am only interested in using Heim as a parlay option in futures (win) formats for this weekend’s race at Texas.

While Heim should be the guy to beat, I think the Spire Motorsports duo of Carson Hocevar and Nick Sanchez deserve legitimate betting consideration. Hocevar is an extremely talented driver and has shown elite speed in the Truck Series previously as a full-time driver. Meanwhile, Sanchez has also been an elite talent in the Truck Series at times at the 1.5 mile venues. In fact, Sanchez dominated the 2023 race at Texas but was wrecked on the final lap. Sanchez also won at Charlotte that same year. Needless to say, I think bettors can consider both Hocevar and Sanchez legitimate threats despite the fact that Spire Motorsports has not shown the best raw “speed” at times this season. Despite those concerns, both Hocevar and Sanchez are aggressive drivers that can make things happen if they have the opportunity late in Friday’s SpeedyCash.com 250.

I also really like Sanchez in H2H formats as well since he is listed in the same odds range as drivers like Chandler Smith and Ty Majeski. Deeper into the field, I believe Tyler Ankrum is another driver worthy of consideration again in H2H formats. Ankrum scored an upset victory at Rockingham and I have been riding him as a H2H target for several weeks with great success. Until anything changes, Ankrum is much better than the 20-1 odds suggests. Going even deeper into the field, Jake Garcia and Connor Mosack are additional drivers that appear poised to shatter their current projections. Both drivers have top 5 ceilings and can be targeted in both H2H and prop bet formats. While I would prefer prop bet formats for the bigger underdogs, I would not rule out H2H possibilities either.
