Denny Hamlin to miss Auto Club 400

Breaking news out of Fontana, California. Denny Hamlin will not race in today’s Auto Club 400 due to a sinus infection. Hamlin had qualified in the 13th position for today’s race but doctors advised Hamlin to sit out of today’s race due to a sinus infection that was effecting his vision. Obviously this will raise some questions since just a year ago, Hamlin suffered a broken vertebrae in a crash at the Auto Club 400 that derailed his 2013 season. As a result, Sam Hornish Jr will fill in and drive the #11 FedEx Toyota. Hornish has 6 career starts in Fontana in a Sprint Cup car but has never finished inside the top 10.
