For the first time in over a month, the Camping World Truck Series will return to action later tonight when the green flag is waved for the running of the Toyota Tundra 250 at Kansas Speedway. Through the first 3 races of the season, we have experienced 3 different race winners in the Truck Series in Johnny Sauter, John Hunter Nemechek, and Kyle Busch. Both Sauter and Nemechek have locked their selves into the Truck Series Chase for the championship that will debut for the first time in the series at the end of the year. Tonight another name looks to seal their bid into the Chase as we go night racing at Kansas. Take a look at our 2016 Toyota Tundra 250 race predictions!

Tonight’s race may have a bit of an unknown factor due simply to the fact it has been over 4 weeks since the Truck Series has competed. Additionally, this will be just the 2nd race on a 1.5 mile tracks as the first 3 stops on the circuit were on completely different layouts. However, we can look at Atlanta’s results for an idea of what to expect later this evening. Although Kansas has some distinct different characteristics from a racing standpoint, we should expect guys like Matt Crafton, John Hunter Nemechek, and Christopher Bell to contend for the victory tonight. Obviously Crafton has been the guy to beat in the Truck Series over the last several years especially most recently on the 1.5 layouts.

If we look back to Atlanta, Christopher Bell had an extremely fast truck in that race. He led several early laps before getting a flat tire. Even after the flat, Bell raced his way back to the 3rd position before he was caught up in Matt Crafton and Daniel Suarez’s wreck on a late restart. John Hunter Nemechek went on to win that race at Atlanta in exciting fashion. Nemechek has had a really impressive start to the 2016 season and I believe he is on his way to competing for wins on a weekly basis. After his win at Atlanta, Nemechek posted a runner-up finish to Kyle Busch most recently at Martinsville. If you look at Nemechek’s performance since he was able to fully compete on the 1.5 mile tracks, he has done a great job with wins at Chicagoland and Atlanta along with several other quality finishes.

Judging by the 3 practices on Thursday, I expect Matt Crafton to be the guy to beat. Crafton looked really good in race trim along with the likes of Cole Custer and Christopher Bell. Another guy that could make his presence felt tonight is Clint Bowyer. The Sprint Cup Series star’s career has been put in the twilight on the Cup side thanks mostly due to the struggles with HScott Motorsports and previously with Michael Waltrip Racing. Tonight Bowyer will make his first Truck Series start in 2 years and just his 14th overall as he looks for a way to break out of a winless slump that goes back to 2012. Bowyer looked pretty fast in race trim posting the 2nd fastest 10 lap average in Thursday’s final practice so he may have a chance to get up there and battle for a victory. Only time will tell.
