Chicagoland Speedway has not disappointed this weekend with exciting races in both the Camping World Truck Series and Xfinity Series on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, the Monster Energy Cup Series gets their opportunity to test the challenging conditions at Chicagoland with the running of the Overton’s 400. There are several different storylines heading into Sunday’s 400 mile race. Martin Truex Jr scored his 3rd win of the season last week at Sonoma and is among the main favorites again this week considering he has won the last two races at Chicagoland. Earlier today Paul Menard won the pole for Sunday’s Overton’s 400 marking just the 2nd pole in Menard’s career. Another major story line has also been the weather this weekend which has produced extreme heat in the Chicago metro area. Temperatures have been in the drooling mid 90s this weekend which has caused significant physical fatigue and slick race conditions to put a strain on drivers.
