2025 Love’s RV Stop 225 Race Picks
Date/Time: Friday October 17th, 2025. 4:00PM (EST)
Where: Talladega Superspeedway
TV: FS1
This weekend all of NASCAR’s touring series will visit the high-banks of Talladega Superspeedway for high-speed superspeedway style racing. Of course, the current storylines, in each series, surround the 8 drivers that are fighting for the chance to race for a championship at Phoenix. However, Talladega Superspeedway has a tenured reputation for producing chaos and potential surprise winners. The chaos could diminish playoff drivers’ chances at a championship and the idea of a potential surprise winner should sound appetizing to bettors looking for a big payday. With that in mind, let’s jump into Friday’s weekend opener in the Truck Series and identify betting opportunities for the running of the Love’s RV Stop 225!
Unlike Xfinity and Cup Series teams that competed at Talladega back in the spring, Friday’s Love’s RV Stop 225 will be the first and only race of the season at Talladega Superspeedway. In fact, the Truck Series has only competed twice this season at drafting style tracks which both unfolded in the first two weeks of the season at Daytona and Atlanta. In both of those races, part-time drivers emerged as victors in the likes of Parker Kligerman (Daytona) and Kyle Busch (Atlanta). Kligerman returns to the #75 truck this week in search of another victory but overall there are not many big threats in the pool of part-time drivers this week which plays into the hands of the playoff contenders and full-time competitors!
Due to the fact that everyone in Friday’s field has a chance to potentially win, we will adapt our betting strategy somewhat due to the increased parity. Instead of backing 2-3 drivers for the outright win, we can expand those selections to as much as 5-6 drivers or more. As long as we are getting sufficient value and ROI, we can afford to lay the extra bets to increase our odds of a payout. Additionally, we will likely avoid most H2H match-ups throughout the entire weekend as those bets are often decided by who avoids the chaos as opposed to the fastest driver/truck. However, we will not completely ignore prop bet opportunities and drivers who may have the opportunity to perform much better than current betting odds suggests. Therefore, just a slightly different approach this week related to how we lay our bets.
Talladega – Truck Notes
- Grant Enfinger (2016/2024) and Parker Kligerman (2012/2017) lead all active drivers with two career wins at Talladega.
- Spencer Boyd (2019) is the only other former winner in Friday’s field.
- Parker Kligerman has two wins and has finished 9th or better in 5 of his last 7 starts at Talladega.
- Ben Rhodes has finished runner-up in 2 of the last 3 races at Talladega.
- Chandler Smith has finished in the Top 5 in 2 of 4 career starts at Talladega.
- Grant Enfinger (two wins) has finished in the Top 5 in just 3 of 11 career starts at Talladega.
- Corey Heim’s best career finish is 5th in 3 career starts at Talladega.
- Rajah Caruth has finished 12th or better in two career starts at Talladega.
- Ty Majeski has finished 12th or worse in all 3 career starts at Talladega.
- Tanner Gray has finished 25th or worse in 5 career starts at Talladega.
- Grant Enfinger has the highest average running position (8.5) among all drivers this season at superspeedway races (Daytona/Atlanta)
- Chandler Smith (9.5), Daniel Hemric (10.5), Ben Rhodes (10.5), and Ty Majeski (13.0) are the other drivers that have the highest average running positions at the superspeedway races this season.
- There have been 7 cautions or less in 17 of 19 races at Talladega.
- The eventual race winner has started 15th or worse in 5 of the last 6 races at Talladega.
- Chevrolet drivers have won 5 of the last 7 races at Talladega.
Betting Targets
Typically, our betting targets are centered around the drivers that we expect to run at the front of the field and contend for a victory. While that still holds true this week, handicapping superspeedway races are as much about strategy as they are trying to predict potential frontrunners. Simply put, we must identify the drivers that have sufficient betting value and have the ceiling to produce a winning ticket. Based on current betting odds, I could not blame anyone for having exposure to Grant Enfinger or Corey Heim at 8-1 odds. However, I would list Chandler Smith and Parker Kligerman as better value targets among the 12 drivers that are in the range of betting favorites.
Meanwhile, Ben Rhodes, Rajah Caruth and Gio Ruggiero are among the group of drivers that I believe have dark horse appeal but I am willing to wait to see if their odds get better after qualifying early Friday. Obviously there are many other drivers among the top 15-20 drivers that we could make legitimate arguments for considering the nature of superspeedway racing. I am simply highlighting the drivers that stand out. For really deep targets that could provide lottery style payouts or even yield potential targets in prop bet formats, I like Jake Garcia, Connor Mosack, and Spencer Boyd as really deep fliers. Boyd is a former winner and is getting 300-1 odds. While I don’t think his equipment currently offers the winning ceiling, he still may be playable in prop bet formats if you are looking for a high yield target.
