Last week, our betting picks suffered a setback following 3 straight rain-shortened races at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Not only did the weather impact the winners in all of those races, but it also impacted some of our H2H picks that were a victim of the bad racing conditions. Fortunately, weather should not be a factor this weekend as all 3 of NASCAR’s top touring series return for 3 straight nights of racing at Nashville Superspeedway. The action begins Friday night when the Craftsman Truck Series waves the green flag for the Allegiance 200 in Music City.

In recent weeks, there have been several Cup Series drivers that have suited up for Truck Series’ events. However, Ross Chastain will be the only Cup Series’ star in action on Friday. Instead, there are a few O’Reilly Auto Parts Series drivers that will be stepping down to join the action at Nashville. The most noteworthy driver on that list is last year’s winner Rajah Caruth who will be piloting the #7 for Spire Motorsports. Caruth has just two wins in his young career but has been very impressive at Nashville and has led laps in all 3 career starts. Needless to say, Caruth is returning for another chance to capture a checkered. Caruth will lead a group of O’Reilly Series drivers that includes the likes of Jesse Love, William Sawalich, Daniel Dye, and Parker Retzlaff who will all be competing on Friday.

Before we dive into early thoughts and expectations, I thought it would be important to point out the schedule related to Friday’s Allegiance 200. Truck Series’ teams will participate in practice and qualifying sessions Friday afternoon, several hours ahead of the green flag. Due to the time differential between qualifying and the scheduled green flag, odds-makers should have plenty of time to post odds and match-ups after qualifying is complete. I think that is important to call out because Nashville is one of those trucks where we would like some insight into practice speeds. The track is very sensitive to tire and setup combinations making it easy to “miss” the setup all together. Observing practice laps could help us avoid any betting duds ahead of tomorrow’s green flag!

Truck Notes – Nashville

  • Christian Eckes (2024) and Rajah Caruth (2025) are the only former winners competing on Friday at Nashville.
  • Christian Eckes posted a perfect 150.0 average driver rating in his 2024 win at Nashville.
  • Kaden Honeycutt and Layne Riggs are the only drivers with +100.0 average driver ratings at the last 5 oval races in the Truck Series.
  • Daniel Dye finished in the runner-up (2nd) position in his last (2024) start at Nashville.
  • Rajah Caruth has finished 4th and 1st in his last two starts at Nashville.
  • Daniel Hemric finished 4th in his only start at Nashville last year.
  • Ben Rhodes has finished in the 7th-13th range in all 5 career starts at Nashville.
  • Tyler Ankrum has finished 8th or better in 3 of his last 4 starts at Nashville.
  • Ty Majeski has finished 9th or better in 4 of 5 career stats at Nashville.
  • Tanner Gray’s best finish is 11th in 5 career starts at Nashville.
  • Stewart Friesen has finished 11th or worse in his last 3 starts at Nashville.
  • Ross Chastain has finished 12th or worse in his last 4 starts in the Truck Series.
  • The eventual race winner has started from the pole position in 5 of the last 9 races at Nashville.
  • Chevrolet drivers have won the last 3 races at Nashville.

Betting Targets

Layne Riggs and Kaden Honeycutt have been the best two drivers among the full-time Truck Series drivers this season. Riggs’ 2nd victory of the season last week in Charlotte was a reminder of just how strong the #34 team has become. As we move forward to this week’s return to Nashville, I would put Riggs at the top of the list among Truck Series regulars because he runs so well at the track less than 1.5 miles. For that reason, Riggs is most likely the top driver going into Friday as is currently listed as the rightful overall betting favorite. Behind Riggs, there are additional 5 drivers (Honeycutt, Chastain, Ruggiero, Eckes, and Love) that are also getting conservatively low betting value among the top favorites going into the Allegiance 200. Among that group, I believe Eckes has the sharpest value based on numerous handicapping indicators.

Surprisingly, Rajah Caruth is getting betting odds in the 12-1 range despite the fact he has run so well at Nashville throughout his career. To strengthen the argument, Caruth steps into a great opportunity with the #7 team who has been among the top teams throughout the season in the Truck Series. Needless to say, I cannot avoid the value surrounding Caruth in all betting formats. If I had to pick my top 3 betting targets among the favorites, Riggs, Caruth, and Eckes would be the ideal order. For bettors attempting to look even deeper into the field, I’m not very confident in any huge underdog victories. However, I will say that Ben Rhodes, Daniel Hemric, and Daniel Dye are all significantly undervalued. All 3 drivers should have higher upside than current betting odds suggest and may be ideal prop/fantasy betting fliers!
