2026 DQS Solutions & Staffing 250 Betting Race Picks

Date/Time: Saturday June 6th, 2026. 1:30PM (EST)
Where: Michigan International Speedway
TV: CW

For the first time this season, the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series will have the luxury of enjoying a break in competition. The O’Reilly Series has an “off” week before resuming racing action next week at Pocono. However, both the Craftsman Truck Series and Cup Series will keep the action alive this weekend in the Irish Hills for racing at Michigan International Speedway. The Truck Series will officially kick things off Saturday afternoon with the running of the DQS Solutions & Staffing 250 which features a packed entry list that includes names like Corey Heim, Cleetus McFarland, Parker Kligerman, Ricky Stenhouse Jr, Ross Chastain, Carson Hocevar, and Christopher Bell!

Last weekend, we were able to take advantage of a handicapping friendly venue at Nashville Superspeedway to cash over 30 units of profit. This week we will have to be slightly more conservative with our overall risks (units wagered) because the racing at Michigan International Speedway can produce a lot of scenarios based around strategy. Michigan has produced a ton of fuel mileage races throughout the years. While fuel mileage races are somewhat slim in the Truck Series, we saw that fuel mileage created a lot of problems in last year’s DQS Solutions & Staffing 250. While it did not impact the finish directly, it did create a lot of mix-up at the front of the field which led to a 15 truck pileup on one of the last restarts of the race inside 10 laps to go.

The late race pileup took out the majority of the leaders which allowed Stewart Friesen to earn his only victory of the season as a big underdog. Obviously, last year’s race was relatively unique in the way things unfolded on those final restarts. However, the overall point is that these races at Michigan are normally decided by the drivers/teams that can get themselves the track position in the closing laps whether it is through strategy, speed, or fortune. For those reasons, we will want to limit our overall risks as a hedge against unnatural finishes that often do not favor bettors. We will still look for sharp betting opportunities in both H2H and futures formats, we will just try to avoid significant overall risks.

Handicapping Michigan

The Truck Series has only competed at Michigan once since the 2020 season. As a result, we don’t have a lot of handicapping metrics in terms of track history. Additionally, Michigan is the only two-mile oval on the Truck Series schedule and the only non-drafting oval that is bigger than 1.5 miles. Needless to say, there are not a lot of comparable venues in terms of performance. To make things somewhat easier, we do know that “speed” is a huge benefactor at Michigan. The teams/drivers that have shown strong speed so far this season should have a strong likelihood of running upfront. The high speeds and relatively flat corners at Michigan will create extremely “loose” racing conditions through the corners. Therefore, the drivers with the best outright “car control” that are able to wheel it through the corners and keep their foot on the pedal will undoubtedly be the drivers to beat over the course of 250 miles.

Betting Targets

Practice and qualifying will not take place until tomorrow (Saturday) morning. However, I don’t believe practice speeds will be worth altering our betting selections because they are often misleading at the bigger ovals. In terms of outright talent, Carson Hocevar, Christopher Bell, Ross Chastain, and Corey Heim have a relatively big advantage over the competition at a track like Michigan. I believe Heim and Hocevar are in the best equipment going into tomorrow’s race but I would not be surprised if all those drivers are in the mix at some point in the afternoon. Hocevar was excellent in this race last year when the Spire Motorsports trucks had a lot less speed than they have shown this year. For that reason, I have Hocevar as the top rated driver going into tomorrow’s race.

Obviously other top talents like Kaden Honeycutt and Layne Riggs could easily be a factor tomorrow. I think the TRICON Garage trucks have shown the best “speed” at the bigger tracks which puts Honeycutt higher on the list. Unfortunately, all of those drivers previously mentioned are less than 10-1 odds which really hurts the betting value in the futures (win) market for tomorrow’s race. If we were to look deeper into the field, I don’t have high confidence in dark horses for the outright win even though it is definitely plausible if things get chaotic again like last year’s race.

Instead, I have narrowed my betting focus towards some potential H2H targets in the likes of Ty Majeski, Connor Mosack, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. All 3 of those drivers have much higher upside than current betting odds suggest. Majeski and the #88 team have been trending in the right direction in terms of outright speed. Mosack had his best performance of the season last year at Michigan and is in quality equipment again this week. Meanwhile, the Niece Motorsports trucks have been showing life in recent weeks and Ricky Stenhouse Jr has always been strong at the high-speed venues through his professional career. As a result, I believe all of those drivers are worthy of H2H consideration and the Mosack/Stenhouse duo may also be considerable in prop bet formats as well!
