NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Betting Predictions
Date/Time: Saturday October 1st, 2022. 12:30PM (EST)
Where: FS1
TV: USA Network

On Saturday, NASCAR will provide an extremely entertaining afternoon of playoff racing at Talladega Superspeedway with a rare double header between the Camping World Truck Series and Xfinity Series. The opening act of Saturday’s intense double header will feature the Truck Series and the running of the Chevy Silverado 250 which will be an important event in the Truck Series championship. Speaking in terms of the Truck Series playoffs, Ty Majeski has already secured his bid to the championship finale following his victory at Bristol. As a result, Saturday’s volatile Truck Series return to Talladega will be an important race for the championship contenders.

For bettors, I would expect an extremely dangerous weekend in betting. Not only is Talladega unpredictable by nature but I also feel like the elements are pointing towards a full weekend of wrecks and chaos. The reason I make that assumption is because all 3 touring series have close championship battles occurring within their series and that means all drivers can make serious ground in the championship by picking up stage points. The importance of stage points and aggressive driving is likely to lend to a large amount of cautions and will undoubtedly make things extremely volatile throughout the weekend.

As a result of the type of aggressive racing that I am expecting this weekend combined with the unpredictable nature of Talladega, I think bettors should be extremely conservative this week. Personally, I will be targeting high yield plays over quality plays which is the exact opposite handicapping strategy that we usually strive for. Either way, don’t be afraid of the volatility because I am a firm believer that there will be at least one big underdog winner this weekend. With a little luck, perhaps we can find ourselves on the right side of the coin.

Betting Targets

I am going to keep things brief for Saturday’s Truck Series race especially since I have another race preview for the Sparks 300 to draft. With that being said, this Saturday’s Chevy Silverado 250 will be the 3rd event for the Truck Series this season at the superspeedway venues however it will be the first since all the way back in March. Since it has been a long time since we last saw any superspeedway racing in the Truck Series, I want to discuss the prior superspeedway races at both Daytona and Atlanta for handicapping purposes. In those events, it appeared that the Kyle Busch Motorsports trucks and Zane Smith were the drivers/trucks that were able to stay towards the front of the field. In fact, Corey Heim captured his 1st career victory with Kyle Busch Motorsports back at Atlanta in a race where all KBM trucks performed really well.

Needless to say, I think we can expect the KBM trucks and Smith to be deserving favorites this week. However, I will say that Ben Rhodes is a better pivot play if you are not wanting to pay “favorite” style betting odds. Rhodes has finished 2nd in both superspeedway races and is one of the more underrated superspeedway talents in the entire series. Meanwhile, drivers like Derek Kraus, Tyler Ankrum, and Tanner Gray are among other really talented superspeedway drivers that have solid betting value this week as well. I have mentioned Taylor Gray plenty of times in recent weeks as an emerging star in the CWTS but it is actually older broth “Tanner” that has been really solid at the superspeedways this season. Therefore, perhaps Gray provides some longshot betting value. Obviously, superspeedway races are unpredictable so make sure you are getting the best value this week and consider the guys mentioned above as the core of our betting targets this week for those wanting a more educated dart throw!
